WLA Obon Festival

< Back to Activities

Obon [ お盆 ] is a way to express our gratitude for those who came before us and appreciate what they have contributed to our lives. This family-friendly festival is open to the community and attendees from all over have a chance to dress in traditional Japanese attire and celebrate the lives of their loved ones though bon odori, or Japanese folk dances. The Obon Festival also provides an opportunity for festival-goers to learn more about Jodo Shinshu Buddhism through exhibits and displays, experience Japanese culture through a wide variety of ethnic food and performances, and to have some fun playing a number of carnival games.
We invite you to join us and hope to see you at the Temple!
